HGH - Human Growth Hormone, HGH Releasers, Secretogues.

Many people ask: “What is Human Growth Hormone?”  especially those just beginning to research anti-aging treatments or products as age begins to catch up with their own minds and bodies.

HGH or Human Growth Hormone is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. Human Growth Hormone promotes tissue repair and cell regeneration in bones, muscles and vital organs, it also supports the immune system in fighting infection or disease. As the body's cells progressively age and die, HGH ensures that replacement healthy cells are available to replace them. Our HGH levels decline with age, reducing our cell replacement levels to a fraction of the levels of our youth. The exact reason why the pituitary gland’s performance reduces so rapidly is a mystery. By age forty almost everyone is deficient in HGH, and by eighty the body’s production can be down by 90-95%. Many of the problems and diseases of old age can be traced to declining levels of HGH in the body.

Human HGH is a complex hormone comprising 191 amino acids. Synthetic human growth hormone, was first produced in 1986 by Eli Lily Corp. In 1990 a study was published by a Dr Rudman in the New England Journal of Medicine: in a controlled double-blind six month study of two groups of men with identical diets and exercise regimes, the study group - which was injected with HGH - had an 8.8% increase in lean muscle mass and a 14.4% decrease in body fat compared to the control group. The test group also reported improvements in sleep, energy, and skin and muscle tone. Even so, the high cost and the pain of injections prevented Human Growth Hormone from becoming widely acceptable. Attempts to produce an oral form  did not work: it was costly, the liver broke down any HGH ingested into the stomach, and the HGH molecule was too large to be absorbed through the lining of the mouth.

True synthetic injectable hormone remains available today only by prescription except at FDA-approved low levels, and its price puts it well outside the reach of most people.

Non-prescription HGH supplements commonly available today fall into two categories, HGH Releasers and Secretagogues. HGH Releasers are less expensive.  They provide the building blocks of the 191 amino acid human growth hormone, such as L-valine and L-arginine. These are components of true HGH, but they are not HGH.

Secretagogues contain minute amounts of human growth hormone. Secretagogues are a form of homeopathic medicine. Homeopathic medicine uses tiny amounts of a natural body chemical  to stimulate the body to produce more of its own. Taking small amounts of a synthetic hormone can induce the pituitary gland to secrete more of its own natural human growth hormone.

Secretagogues can contain actual human growth hormone and still be available without a prescription, but only if they do so in very small concentrations. Any supplement which claims to contain a significant amount of true human growth hormone and is available without prescription may be  in violation of federal law.

Only a very few HGH supplements contain both releaser amino acids and true secretagogue human growth hormone (within FDA regulations).
